“Hello, my name is Eva Chupikova, a freelance illustrator and photographer with a passion for minimalist landscape photography and fine art photography based in the Czech Republic.

Art has always been an integral part of my life. I was born and raised in the mountainous region of northern Slovakia. From there I moved to the Czech Republic to study philosophy at Palacky University in Olomouc. After graduating, I began a career as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator specialising in children’s literature.
In recent years, I fell under the spell of minimalist landscape photography as a self-taught amateur photographer. I bought my first DSLR in 2016 and embarked on a new exciting, creative and intimate journey.

Most of my photography aims to capture landscapes in simple, uncluttered compositions that allow me to express emotions that are both fundamental and universal. In my compositions, I find beauty when basic geometric lines and shapes are linked in harmony with the elusive variability and diversity of natural and organic forms. Capturing these simplified relationships, present in nature itself, creates a moment of respite in a complicated and complex web of reality. It’s an invitation to stand still and enter into a deeper inner dialogue.

As a photographer, I am constantly fascinated by witnessing these ephemeral moments orchestrated by nature in very specific circumstances and on its own terms. I’m entranced by her genius for creating them at any time, anywhere. Above all, I am fascinated and grateful for the fact that these moments offer pure joy, self-knowledge and contemplation.

Finally, I hope that this personal journey of research, exploration and learning can connect with the viewers of my photographs and their experience.”

Jeseniky Mountains

“For me, photography is not just a visual art, but something closer to poetry – or at least a certain kind of poetry, like haiku.” Eva Chupikova.

On the edge of the winter sky
white light permeates the air
the taste of ink
drips from the treetops
I go there

“It is with pleasure that I post the opening photograph for the new portrait series entitled Nevermore that I am currently working on…One day, when I was seven, my grandfather asked me what I thought was the most horrible word.

Strange question, I pulled away for a second, blushed and said the most vulgar word I had in my juvenile vocabulary. He shook his head disapprovingly and said: never again.
It made no sense, such a common word. After a while, he passed away and I didn’t understand the meaning of his question until much later…
The word ‘never again’ is as absolute and profound as the universe, the truth itself…”

What makes Nordic cabins truly remarkable is their ability to blend harmoniously into the natural environment that surrounds them. These photographs are part of a larger series capturing their beauty and humility. Let yourself be transported to a world where simplicity and nature come together.

This series was shot on the island of Senja, Norway, in September 2023. The absence of colour is intended to magnify the eloquence of the elegant curves, guiding the eye along the slopes of these majestic natural wonders.
